Crowded Pay Day Weekend at the Mall

Well it was a pretty hectic Friday for me.

All my previously stated plans went down the drain. Instead of taking care of finding my cook and fixing that messy one corner of our room, I got distracted into fixing one drawer of our cabinet. At least this was pretty productive for me because I was able to get rid of our old underwears allowing the drawer some breathing space because it was so jam packed.

After fixing the drawer, my husband and I decided to go to the mall (PODIUM) to buy some books for me. It was the worst day to go the mall. Firstly, we didn't know that there was a mall wide sale on that day. Meaning, the mall was so crowded (waahhhh!!!). It was a pay day weekend thus the mall wide sale. Of course, it completely slipped our minds. We should know better next time. (Photo coutesy of http://www.mandaluyong.gov.ph/shopping.html)

Then, I also needed to withdraw money. Again, a very wrong move for me because the atm machines were crowded as well. Both ATM machines had about 7-8 people liined up. I had no choice but to line-up as well and it took me 30 minutes before it was my turn. Then again since it was an unlucky day for me, the machine was not able to connect to my bank thus it was unable to dispense money for me (grrrr...).

At least I was still able to buy my books, the main reason why we went there. Then we decided to have coffee in one our favorite coffee houses FIGARO (http://www.figarocoffee.com/index.htm). Off the topic, they really serve good "barako" coffee at very reasonable prices.

Then off we went to CLUB MWAH (http://www.clubmwah.com/) for our get together. This is a highly recommended place. They showcase caliber performances, production design, costume, and make-up. The works and they do excerpts from popular Broadway hits. I would really encourage Filipinos or even foreigners to come visit this place. They will surely enjoy the show.

Only seven of our friends (including us) were able to make it compared to the usual of eleven. Nevertheless, we all had fun.

Watched a Great Movie Today

Oh today was a much lazier day for me. Again, I woke really late like 11 AM because I got engrossed in watching one of Reese Witherspoon's movie in cable. I don't know the title of the movie but the story was she pretended to be the perfect man for her Mom. I ended up watching until 4 AM. Whew, I had a headache afterwards.

After lunch, my husband invited me to watch a movie. So we went to the mall and we decided to watch "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry". Since the movie was at 5 PM, I decided to drop by Gourdo's and did some shopping. Here's a link to my other blog regarding my shopping.

Anyway, Chuck and Larry was such a funny movie. I also cried in some of the scenes, oh well I easily cry on anything. I'd recommend this movie if you want to have a good laugh.

So, again because I had a busy day I was not able to take care of the replacement of my cook. I promised myself I'd do this tomorrow :)

Oh, I have another project tomorrow as well, to fix this part our room. That's one corner of our room that's really messy. Those are the bags that I frequently used, a basket stuffed with junk and some clothes that needs to placed inside my cabinets. My maid can't touch that part, it has to be me.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day :)

A Peaceful Day :)

Yes it was a peaceful day today. Woke up early because I had Chinese language lessons (Fookien) at 10 am. Although I was late by 15 minutes because it was so hard to wake up today.

Why am I taking up Fookien? Because I married a pure Chinese and here in my country, they normally use the Fookien dialect. I am pure Filipino on the other hand and I really don't know anything about their language. Since my in-laws normally converse in Fookien, I decided to learn so that I can understand what they are talking about especially during family gatherings. I also want to prepare because when we have kids, I want them to speak Chinese as well because this part of their heritage.

After my lessons, I passed by a mall to buy some stuff then dropped by the bank as well. Our lunch was acceptable to I didn't hear compains from hubby today. YIPEE!!!

I was suppose to call up the manpower agencies to search for my new cook but then it completely slipped my mind. After lunch, I was so busy surfing the net and chatting with my friends then before I knew it was 5 pm already. They were all closed by then. Hmph, what a lazy girl!!! Ha-ha....

Good thing dinner was a again a peaceful occassion. TWO YIPPEES for me!!! But tomorrow, that will be the first thing that I'll do.

Hmmm, aside from that I really need to start fixing our room. Its such a mess. My maid can't fix it on her own because she doesn't know where to put my stuff.

I guess that will my next adventure....

Maid Crisis - Part 2

My Cook really made my day..

Hmph, I woke up at around 11 AM (I had to take a nap again when my Mom called me at 8 AM) I was at a dillema. My Aunt from the province called and she found a cook but the thing is she doesn't want to come over to Manila unless another helper accompanies her here plus the fact that she wants both of them to stay in one house. What the heck am I going to do with 3 maids?

By the way my long time maid already promised that she will stay as long as I will get another Cook. Its a bit of a blackmail but then again I'm not happy with the my Cook anyway so I just told her to give me time to look for one.

So here comes lunch and I was so hungry and so was my husband. She prepared stir fried vegetables and steamed shrimp. We were okay with this despite the fact that she cooked the same thing the previous week. But the bad part about it was the the shrimp was too salty and was cooked with a lot of ginger thus we couldn't hardly taste the shrimp itself. How can she not cook it properly when its just steamed????

Anyway, hubby didn't eat anymore and so he was in a bad mood. So I talked to my Cook and told her that the shrimp was too salty and she added too much ginger. I also told her that she kept on repeating our meals again despite my reminder time and again. I was really pissed off with her and I said how many cook books do I need to buy for her???

At about 2 pm, I left the house to go the gym. Man, traffic was terrible because of the heavy rain. It took me 30 minutes compared to my normal travel time going home. I had to pass by Greenhills to buy hubby some original glaze doughnuts and coffee from Krispy Kreme.

So when I got home, I just surfed the net and had a bit of snack.

Here comes dinner, I had high hopes after our talk earlier. To piss me off further, she cooked this beef with watery sauce. The beef was too hard and tasteless. In short, both hubby and I didn't eat, AGAIN!!!! For the second time in one day.

I called her attention again and I asked her what did she cook. She said it was suppose to be pot roast??? I said that can't be pot roast so I told her to show me the recipe. I don't know how to cook but the recipe stated that the sauce was suppose to be thick among other things. I said how come it was not thick, she said it was thick. Man, I flared up with that statement. Its like she was making me look stupid not knowing what I'm suppose to expect just because I don't cook.

So, McDonalds came to the rescue again. I also decided to just get a Cook from a manpower agency despite the horror stories. I just don't have a choice at this point.....

Maid Crisis!!!

My maids are fighting. Arghhhh, of all things to stress me out this one thing that shouldn't even be a problem for me.

My all-around maid who has been with us for 3 years could not get along with the other maid (cook). Her reason is that the cook is so moody, not easy to talk to, lazy, and doesn't listen when she tells her not to do something because she knows I won't like it, etc. She said that she might be forced to leave because she couldn't stand the cook. I really panicked with this thought, I can't let her leave. She is the only one who knows where we keep our stuff, when to bring the dogs to the vet, how i want our clothes irones, etc. In short, I am very dependent on her in a lot of things.

The cook has been with us for a year and I've noticed that she has become hardheaded. I've told her not to repeat our meals because my hubby hates that. She should come out with a variety of meals for us and never serve leftover foods. Despite this, she still keeps on serving the same meals and she sometimes comes up with new but unusual and unappetizing food. I bought her numerous cook books already and I already prepared a menu plan for us. Despite this, she still insist on doing her own thing.

My hubby is already complaining about our food and I'm getting stressed with it. That is the only thing that my husband requested, to eat really good food. So if this does not happen, "umiinit na talaga ulo nya". He is be in a bad mood the whole day.

So because of this I need to fire the cook but before doing that I need to find a replacement for her. I called my aunt in the province to look for a cook for me ASAP. She'll call me in 2 days to find let me know if she found one for me.

I need a cook ASAP.....

Other than that it was just a lazy Sunday for me. Just watched TV the whole day and took a nap after lunch. Nothing much on the showbiz "tsismis" shows so I kept on switching channels.

As I am writing this blog, hubby said he was hungry. So I already called McDonald's for delivery since its the only fastfood chain that offers 24 hour delivery.

Till my next adventure....

The Undomesticated Housewife Background

Let me describe myself a bit....

I am 34 years old, a housewife with no kids. So, what gives me the right to be a housewife? That's another story all together about my journey in conceiving a baby. You may read this in my other blog http://www.myjourneyinconceivingababy.blogpost.com/.

I used to work as a Marketing Group Product Manager in a local food manufacturing company. I was working for 12 years before deciding to quit my job and be a housewife.

My Mom was a career woman herself because she was the only one raising us because my Dad died when I was still small. I grew up with maids taking care of our house, preparing our food, laundry, bringing me to school, etc. In short, I didn't really do anything inside the house because there was someone who was always available to do it for me.

When I got married, I tried to be the the domesticated wife. We didn't hire a maid at first and I was the one cooking our meals (bought marinated stuff and just poppped them in the oven or turbo broiler). I tried cleaning the house during weekends and washed our underwear. After a month I gave up because I couldn't do it, so we hired a maid.

After a year, we transferred to a bigger house, got my 2 dogs, and my husbands aquariums. We decided to get 2 maids, one to handle the cooking and the other one to take care of the laundry and cleaning. Of course, they both had to take care of the dogs. Here's a picture of our dogs Max and Lilo.

Now that I am a housewife, we still have 2 maids who takes care of everything. I still hate cleaning the house, cooking, etc. By the way, we also have a driver, so I have not been driving since I got married.
So how do I spend my day, how undomesticated am I, how do I keep busy?.....I will share all my adventures in this blog.
